Driving Ferrari as a bicycle !!!

Ever since ERP projects started to be implemented, some of the companies ended-up using ERP systems as an accounting tool for end-of month recording,

  • ignoring ``Enterprise`` perspective

  • wasting ``Resources``

  • leaving ``Planning `` to planners and conducting execution in silos

Due to this ``disconnected`` approach they all ended up blaming the systems for project failures

I call it simply, driving Ferrari as a bicycle - well maybe I am exaggerating too much😊

Now we are in the era of digital transformation and trying to build-up on this rocking ground fancy ``past data oriented`` dashboards, which does not support future foresee and decision making. Meaning another miss-perception for companies and this time the cost of it seems is higher.

So, what are the THE KEY ACTIONS to achieve mind-set transformation ?

From humble experience of my global and local projects, to turn any analytic systems into decision making support and tangible business actions, I strongly believe companies need:

  • Senior leadership who are not only with siloed experience but also can conduct cross-functionality

  • Robust foundation of operating model at tactic level

  • Teams that understand that horizontal self-service data analytics and storytelling is a must investment for their own carrier paths.

  • Sufficient and experienced “translators,” who can lead to this transformation and connect the needs of the business units with the data-models.

Thus, data-migration solutions, would not become 2nd wave of driving Ferrari as bicycle.

Easy to say hard to apply yes !!

but there are success stories created with teams who believe ``big challenges conveys bigger opportunities``

Also I suggest you to have a look one of Mc Kinsey articles

Some valuable insides from article;

``Without a business-driven approach with a clear vision and outcomes-based metrics to guide executives’ strategies and decisions, data and digital transformation projects can drag on for years at a high cost``

``Unless there is no end-to-end, real-time company-wide logic and central governance, associated with the ad hoc repositories built for financial or administrative data, critical business information remains trapped in isolated systems``

Good luck on the journey
