Will the sun shine tomorrow?
If we could make predictions on an accurate and giant scale and convert them to wise actions, could we have avoided many mistakes; Covid-19 outbreak, natural disasters, wars….
Today nobody knows how the demand will shape when there is no regularity to our interests. I cannot wait to see, how we will use AI dealing with complex phenomena, predict the risk and make more visible the future for the sake of a better future for all.
With respect to all size of entrepreneurs and NGOs,
hope to go back to the days with regularities - even they are new.
Even with big and wide data in today’s world, we cannot still predict the social events and reactions of people to these events. So, at this point the past data is becoming unreliable and to shape the demand, we are back to only guessing. And for better guessing, we need skilled team members for each function.
With my humble 25+ year supply chain career, the journey from black-green screens to where we are now was amazing.
During my journey, I worked for several companies and every single one of them had an `intention` on improving forecast accuracy. Those do not mature enough in SCM discipline also wanted to satisfy their customer and be more competitive.
And for all, demand-supply integrated data with a business mindset significantly increased the potential of any type or size of companies.
There are always two things I experienced. First, nothing is duplicable. Every company even in the same sector has their own way to do things and it always comes with `depends` Second, integration is not about the systems but about always the leads, people and the company culture
So, my point is in today’s circumstances, we should, even more, focus to solidify the foundation.
- Implement system solutions and data visibility, thus, your teams can make spend more of their time analyzing data, solving problems and developing value.
- And invest in skilled team members to handle exceptions, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and ensure operations are aligned with changing strategy.
